Biography

Maria-Elena Kyriakou’s “One Last Breath” is the song that will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest.

It is a powerful ballad, written by Maria-Elena herself and Efthivoulos Theocharous. The Lyrics are by Vangelis Konstantinidis and Evelina Tziora.

Maria-Elena Kyriakou was born in Cyprus on January 11, 1984. She’s a mother of three and owns a tutoring center.
At the age of 12 she won the first prize at the Cyprus-based singing competition “Child ‘96”. The following year she made her stage debut in Stavros Sideras’ rock opera “Pygmalion”, where she joined a cast of very prestigious artists from the US. In 2006, she graduated from the faculty of Greek language and literature and started teaching.

In 2005 she worked as a soloist in Stelios Pisis’ album “Of Castalia and Sirens” (‘Castalias kai Sirinon’), and also joined him at his concert, where she collaborated with singers such as Antonis Vardis, Antonis Remos, Alkinoos Ioanidis and Melina Aslanidou.

In May of 2014 she became the first winner of the talent show “The Voice of Greece”, coached by the Greek singer Despina Vandi. After her win, she quickly singed with Minos Emi and a few months later, July 2014, she released her first solo album “Two Angels On Earth” (‘Dio Ageli Sti Gi’). For this album she worked with important songwriters such as Dimitris Kontopoulos Vagia Kalantzi and Efthivoulos Theocharous, who wrote the music and lyrics to the song “Two Egos” (‘Dio Egoismi’), and Konstantis Chaniotis who wrote the lyrics to “You Have Made History” (Echis Afisi Epochi’).

This album also features the songs: “Two Angels On Earth”, a remix of the Eros Ramazotti song “Un Angelo Disteso al sole” and “That Night” by Living R., which is also a remix.

Maria-Elena Kyriakou recently became the spokesperson for the Swedish cosmetics company “Oriflame”.

Last July she performed, for the first time, her song “Two Angles On earth” at the fashion show “Mad Walk” in Cyprus , she was one of the famous guests at the big Christmas party organized by the radio station “Super Fm” and she sang at the musical “Whatever’s worth, will be saved” (Oti Aksizi Tha Sothi’). Currently she is nominated for the Madame Figaro’s “Best performer of 2014” award.

She is also giving concerts and participates in charity events and music theatre shows in Cyprus and Greece.
